Well Done RSHA But …

Constitutionally, the legislative organ is indispensable in every democratic setting. It is charge with the basic responsibility of making laws and to check the activities of the other two arms of government which include: executive and judiciary.

In Rivers State it is sad to recall that since 9 July, 2013 the State Assembly complex is under lock and keys following a crisis that rocked the House.

As a result of this the law making organ in the state is paralyzed and members of the House are divided, which led to the emergence of two speakers. The State Assembly has been in the cooler. Nothing tangible is coming from the hallow legislative chamber, except from time to time, a faction that is loyal to the governor will approve loan for the government to borrow or money to spend.

It took several residents of the State by surprise as the State Assembly under the speakership of Rt. Hon. Otelemaba Dan Amachree woke up and began to take up responsibilities, which its members were fail to do four (4) years ago.

The Rivers State House of Assembly, RHSA shows much concern about the economy of the state and workers welfare. On Monday they suspended three (3) council chairmen for financial recklessness and insecurity in their respective LGAs. Also on Tuesday the House summoned some commissioners and heads of parastatals to appear before it to explain some certain things are affecting the State. We categorically state here that it rather too late to stand up for the responsibilities, because barely two (2) week from now their tenure will elapse.

But we pray that God should give them the necessary strength to carry out their official duties to the service of humanity. ###
