The National Secretary of Ijaw National Congress (INC), Mr. Theodore Ezonfade has been suspended from office for alleged insubordination, disobedience, subversiveness among others.
The National Representative Council (NRC) which is the legislative arm of the INC suspended the scribe during its meeting, last week in Yenegoa, capital of Bayelsa State.
Speaking, the leader of the NRC, Prof. Francis Sikoki who was represented by Chief Augustine Lugbenwei expressed hope that the suspension of the National Secretary of the congress will serve as a warning to other members of the INC.
He said based on the decision, the NRC has now constituted 5 man Investigative Fact Findings and Disciplinary Panel to investigate the alleged activities of the suspended National Secretary. The panel was given four (4) weeks to submit its report.
Sequel to this development, the Assistant National Secretary, High Chief Williams Mkpah has been directed to act as secretary pending the outcome of the report of the panel.
Meanwhile, the NRC has given approval to the budget proposal submitted by the budget committee. Other matters deliberated upon include: civic reception for President Goodluck Jonathan in Yenagoa on a date after his formal handover, to convene a stakeholders’ meeting for the way forward for Ijaw nation before May 29, 2015, registration of INC members worldwide and reorganization of INC organs and to conduct elections for the zones, chapters and clans within 90 days.
The NRC commended the president of the INC, Barr. Boma Obuoforibo and unanimously passed a vote of confidence on him in appreciation of his level headed conduct, humility and focused leadership in handling the INC affairs.
The meeting had in attendance some past INC leaders who had distinguished themselves in their services to the Ijaw nation and they include: pioneer president, Prof. Dime, former Vice President, Wing Commander, Chief P.Y. Biakpara, pioneer National secretary of INC, Pastor P.Z Aginighan, Prof. Alagoa amongst others. ###
