Abe Denies Bribing Pastors, Monarchs

magnusThe senator representing Rivers South East senatorial district in the National Assembly, Senator Magnus Abe has denied an allegation by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that he induced pastors and traditional rulers in Ogoni to petition the State Election Tribunal.

The PDP, had in a statement issued in Port Harcourt by its state chairman, Chief Felix Obuah, alleged that the senator was offering some pastors and chiefs of Ogoni huge sums of money as an inducement to petition to the State Election Tribunal that no elections took place in Ogoniland.

Reacting, the All Progressives Congress (APC) member described the allegation as a figment of Obuah’s imagination.

A statement signed on his behalf by Honour Sirawoo, Head, Media and Publicity of the Abe Campaign Organization (ACO), observed that the senator or his associates do not need to induce already aggrieved voters to testify as witnesses over a concocted exercise that did not allow them choose their representatives.

It reads: “Abe is a serving Senator representing Rivers South-East in the National Assembly, so could meet with his constituents whenever the need arises.

“The Senator or his associates do not need to induce already aggrieved voters to testify as witnesses over a concocted exercise that did not allow them choose their representative.

“We are shocked that Obuah was jubilating over a purported election independent bodies across the world have unanimously condemned.

“Did Senator Abe also bribe the European Union, United Nations, United States Embassy, Domestic and International Observers that described the exercise as a charade and rape of democracy?

“Thousands of disenfranchised Rivers people are determined and ready to testify against the daylight robbery Obuah is celebrating, and cheap blackmail will not deter them.”
