The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Obio/Akpor LGA of Rivers State, had at the Civic Centre, Rumuigbo celebrated to recent emergence of Mohamadu Buhari at the just concluded presidential election in Nigeria.
Speaking with journalists at the event, Chief Sidney Nyeche, deputy campaign director of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Obio/Akpor LGA, commended Nigerians for their massive support in ensuring that change finally come to bear in the country.
The APC deputy campaign director however frowned at the outcome of the just concluded presidential election, which saw the emergence of Buhari, as the newly elected president of Nigeria, and the sweeping of all the National Assembly seats by the PDP in the state.
However, the president general of Rumuigbo Youth Organisation in Obio/Akpor LGA, Comrade Junior Dele Egeonu, said that the emergence of Buhari will bring about the real change that Nigerians have been looking for.
The youth president was emphatic that the APC will emerge victorious at the incoming April 11th, 2015 gubernatorial election in the state, having done her home work very well and with saleable candidates.
Comrade Egeonu in the meantime, lauded the spirit of sportsmanship exhibited by President Goodluck Jonathan in accepting defeat, noting that Mr. President meant well for the people, but blamed his failure on the role played by those around him.
In the same vein, the leader of non-indigenes in Obio/Akpor LGA, Chief Wiliams Ubaka JP, expressed his gratitude on the new trend of leadership that has taken over the nation, which according to him will bring sunshine at the instance of the APC to Nigerians.
He noted that President Jonathan had no option than to accept defeat, having seen the handwriting on the wall, and used the medium to advise his Igbo brothers to always balance their political equation, in every political dispensation.
While Prince Sunday Ogbonna, Coordinator of the non-indigenes APC in Ward 17, Obio/Akpor LGA, said that victory is already for the APC, since power has changed hands in the country.
He urged the youths to shine their eyes and shun any act of violence that could mar the forthcoming governorship elections in the state, adding the Rivers State cannot afford to play opposition this time around.
