Nyesom Wike, the People Democratic Party governorship candidate in Rivers state, expressed confidence that they would win the April 11 elections.
Speaking on April 6, Monday, in Port Harcourt, Wike said that the All Progressives Congress would not repeat the party’s presidential election success at the governorship and state assembly polls.
Wike also accused Governor Chibuike Amaechi of betraying President Goodluck Jonathan and now campaigning that the state cannot afford to be in opposition to the APC-led Federal government.
Wike was quoted as saying:
“Has Lagos state not been in opposition? Which state is as developed as Lagos state? Did Amaechi not take the state to opposition?”
Recall that Amaechi defected from the PDP to the APC in 2013, already after having become governor of the state.
The former education minister continued with the warning that Amaechi was allegedly plotting to ensure that there would be no elections so that after Muhammadu Buhari takes over the office on May 29, the new president would supervise the election.
In conclusion Wike told the PDP supporters to get ready for the victory party.
