Muslims under the auspices of South-South, South-East Muslims Initiative last weekend converged at Rukpokwu in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area to formally declare their support for the re-election of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and his Vice, Mohammed Namadi Sambo come March 28, 2015.
In a statement issued, the South-South, South-East Muslims anchored their support for President Jonathan’s return to his transformation agenda.
The statement which was jointly signed by Amb. Chief Alhaji Abubakar Orlu (JP) and Alhaji Chief Suleiman Ukandu, the Muslims extolled the leadership qualities of President Jonathan.
The South-South, South-East Muslims Initiative carefully x-rayed the development pattern of Jonathan’s administration.
According to them President Jonathan has done much in the areas of education, transportation, agriculture, power supply amongst others.
The Muslims, however noted that the Jonathan’s administration has given face-lift to the Islamic affairs in the country, adding that, the president has taken Muslim Hajj to another level.
They described Jonathan as a “listening President” that has Nigerians in mind, pointing out that, Jonathan believes in indivisible one Nigeria.
The Muslims had identified the tide against Jonathan, which according to their observation is not hinged on non-performance, but power struggle.
The statement reads in part: “we do hereby re-affirm our confidence, trust on the present administration’s ability to take Nigeria to another level of competitive economic development that can equate with the dynamics of contemporary global economic trend”.
In his response, Alhaji Muhajid Asari-Dokubo urged the Muslims to stand and support the administration of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. Alhaji Asari-Dokubo alleged that Muhammadu Buhari does not have the interest of the Muslims at heart and enjoined them to ensure that they throw their weight behind the re-election bid of President Jonathan come March 28, 2015. ###
