With barely two months to the end of the current administration, President Goodluck Jonathan Wednesday swore in eight ministers that were recently cleared by the Senate and assigned them portfolios.
The swearing-in ceremony was conducted before Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council meeting.
The new ministers are Senator Patricia Akwashiki (Minister of Information), Prof. Nicholas Ada (Minister of State Foreign Affairs I), retired Col. Augustine Akobundu (Minister of State, Defence), Mrs. Hauwa’u Lawan Bappa, (Minister of State, Niger Delta Affairs), Kenneth Kobani (Minister of State, Industry, Trade and Investment), Sen. Joel DanlamiIkenya (Minister of Labour and Productivity), Mr. Fidelis Nwankwo (Minister of State for Health) and Senator Musiliu Obanikoro (Foreign Affairs II).
President Jonathan also named the Minister of State, Health, Dr. KhaliruAlhassan, as the substantive Minister of Health. Dr. Alhassan has been acting as Supervising Minister of Health.
