Governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, has assured lawyers that the issue of who becomes the substantive Chief Judge of the state will be resolved before May 29.
Dakuku, weekend, at a Town Hall meeting with lawyers in the state under the aegis of Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, assured that the issue which had grounded legal activities in the state will be resolved before May 29, adding that the state and all the parties involved in the case were working toward ensuring that the courts in the state resume effectively.
Faulting a development where litigants are facing frustration, and most people subjected to unlawful detention, Dakuku said a positive decision was about to be taken on the issue.
He promised to refer the case to the Supreme Court if elected governor, for a better interpretation of the section of the law which deals with the appointment of the Chief Judge of a state, if the issue was not resolved before May 29.
