The Political, Economic cum Social safety of the People of Andoni is guaranteed with the emergence of the government of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP under the leadership of Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike as Governor of Rivers State come March 28 and April 11, 2015.
A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Andoni Local Government Area and a one time elected member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Chief (Hon.) Allen Jonah Abbi, JP made the revelation while expressing optimism that PDP would win Andoni LGA at the forthcoming polls, and admonishing those on the cross roads to return to the PDP folk now, advocates for massive votes for the ruling PDP said, with Barr. Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike as governor of Rivers State and Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as President of Nigeria, “Andoni is in safe hands”.
Chief Abbi, a government recognized “Justices of peace” and senior stake holder of PDP in the area while in a chat with The Newswriter Political Correspondent noted that PDP has become a household name in Andoni while other political parties if they exist at all are new comers, who by circumstances are sharing and benefiting from the sweat, wealth and labour of the PDP, describing it as a temporal and dangerous enjoyment.
On the possible modalities for his accersion and prediction of PDP’s victory in the area, Chief Abbi revealed that the mode of electioneering campaigns which received the people’s nod as embarked upon by the PDP was second to none in the area, hence no other party would be able to defeat the PDP, stated that, it is not in any history that the legs could tie the hands.
“The people of Andoni are well abreast with the PDP before now, and following the electioneering campaign embarked upon by the party, the people are re-engineered on the course of PDP and have resolved to vote for the party”, Chief Abbi said.
On the campaign by the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC in the area, the former Assembly man reaffirm his earlier stance that if any other party exists in Andoni, they are the unpopular few who shares the revenue accruing to the Andoni council, saying that while they are deceiving themselves, they only exists on the bill boards positing they are of the A and B group which have eventually disconnected themselves from the people.
Speaking further on the emergence of Mr. Esuku M. Esuku as the Caretaker Committee Chairman in the area, Chief Abbi said the CTC chairman would do his best but maintained that PDP would triumph victoriously, recalled that the said CTC chairman was not new or a stranger in Andoni as he was defeated in 2008 even with the governor’s assistance.
According to Chief Abbi, though both of them are of the same royal house, he emphasized that with the sitting CTC chairman, the PDP’s victory is made easier.
On whether the influence of Chief Davies Ibiamu Ikanya as the APC state chairman would not take APC to victory in the area, Chief Abbi who recounted how he beats or won the APC state chairman of the then DPN by eleven thousand (11,000) votes margin in 1987 election to clinch the State House of Assembly seat, maintained that “Chief Ikanya is neither a threat nor force against PDP in the LGA.
The PDP senior stakeholder used the occasion to condemn APC style of campaign, which dwells on elevation of traditional or chieftaincy stool which are not identified and classified into first class stools, calling on the people to reject such demonic move which intends to spark off crisis in the area.
He said before the merger of Andoni to Rivers in 1976, the professor Tekena Tamuno and Prof. Alagoa panels had already concluded their findings on the identification and classifications of stools in Rivers State without Andoni inclusion.
According to the politician, the issues of identification and classification of first class stool in Andoni is already before a competent court of law, describing APC campaign on elevation of certain stools as a capital and total deceit on the people holding secret meetings with them because promises of up grading certain family stools to first class stools, is an impossibility, he claimed.
He stated that the Rivers State government is a party to the matter in court and condemned the act of APC gubernatorial candidate and his privies using a matter of such magnitude in the court as campaign strategy.
It would be recalled that it is over ten (10 Months) now that the Rivers State government has said no to judicial practices and existence in the state, hence the APC campaign on a matter currently on going in a court is a clear indication of its disrespect to the judiciary and rule of law. ###
