Commissioner Tasks Staff On Hardworking

The Commissioner for Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Hon. Joe Poroma has charged staff of his Ministry to work with compassion as to add more value to the lives of those in their care while commending them on the efforts they put in to work last year.

Hon. Poroma stated this on Friday at a meeting held with staff of the Ministry in his office.

The Commissioner said caring for the less privileged requires a lot of patience, care, sympathy and tolerance.

The Commissioner regretted that the loss of family values in our society has contributed negatively to the work load on the Ministry where those with mental challenges, abandoned children etc are left for Government to carter for alone.

In her maiden address to staff of the Ministry, the new Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Ms Kadilo Brown expressed joy that she did not inherit any outstanding problems or quarrels existing in the ministry but instead she has seen so much cooperation and unity amongst members of staff and urged them to continue in that spirit.

According to her, the Ministry will soon embark on series of job training for capacity building of the Ministry and urged them to take the job training serious as to boast their productivity.

She, however called on staff to brace up to punctuality, commitment and hard work as any act of indiscipline will not be condoned adding that ”if you are found wanting the course of the law will catch up with you”.
