Guild Of Medical Laboratory: New Executive Emerge

The chairman Ad-hoc Electoral Committee of Guild of Medical Laboratory, Elder Emmanuel Ibanga has charged members especially the executives to be pragmatic and forthcoming with ideologies that would ensure transformation in the nearest future.

Elder Ibanga gave the charge while addressing members during the Guild before election.

Elder Ibanga who recalled the 2011 election expressed dismay as the attitude of members possessed very high threshold for leadership pointing out that the previous committee members who were almost entirely the present committee members had to pass through crucible by doubling as canvassers of candidates and electoral committee before the five persons who indicated interest vied for different posts and went unopposed.

According to him, it is unfortunate that the present election with a rendezvous negects pathway of 2011 election, stressing that, except something is done to rouse the interest of people and every other antithetical trade mark that characterized the guild in recent years, dispensed with, one can simply state that the future is bleak.

Elder Ibanga who is also the CEO Zion Medical Laboratory further expressed worry that even as the law (Art. 3) establishing ad-hoc electoral committee empowers it to formulate rules including time table for the elections in tendem with section 1, sub-section I and II of the said law, yet it was childish to observe obvious non adherent to time table by candidates in the prelude to the election which indicated that the Guilds electoral landscape requires restructuring and revitalization.

Meanwhile, Pastor Solomon Chinedum has emerged the new chairman of the Guild of Medical Laboratory Directors.

In a keenly contested elections, Pastor Chinedum pulled 37 votes to defeat his opponent, Mr. Chidi Ndukwu who scored 21 votes.

Mr. Mark Chidi Adiala was elected Vice Chairman while the post of secretary went to Eze Chidi Chukwuemeka.

Others were Mr. Paul Ogunlola, Financial Secretary, Easter Egeolu Treasurer, Mr. Anthony Egeonu, Public Relations Officer, PRO, Ohareme Florence, Auditor while the post of Assistant secretary was unconclusive.

Performing the inauguration ceremony of the new executive officers, Barr. Perecle Chukwunda described the election as free and fair and charged the executive officers to work in line with the constitution of the Guild to move it forward.

In his speech, Dr. Easter Nwokah the chairman of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria, AMLSN Rivers State branch which is the umbrella of the public and private medical laboratory scientists of Nigeria described the election as free, fair and credible as the elections was conducted without bitterness and acrimony.

He expressed delight for the massive turned out of members and their matured conduct during the election.

Dr. Nwoka frowned at the manner in which members do not attend meetings regularly as well as some members inability to pay their dues and urged them to change their attitudes for better.

Dr. Nwokah who congratulated the new excos for their new assignment charged them to ensure quality practice, man power development, welfare, empowerment and work as a team to actualize their goals.

In his acceptance speech the newly elected chairman, Pastor Solomon Chinedu, who spoke on behalf of the other executive members expressed his gratitude for electing him as the chairman of the guild.

Pastor Chinedum who noted that there are no winners or losers in the election, promised not to let members of the Guild down rather will carry them along in the scheme of things as well as work as a team with members to achieve their desired goals. ###
