Port Harcourt Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Sharks of Port Harcourt has lifted the invitational Gold Cup Tournament, by beating Shooting Stars FC of Ibadan in the finals to be crowned the tournament champions.
Sharks competed alongside Kogi United and seven other clubs, Shooting Stars FC, Supreme Court, FC Ebedei, Kwara Football Academy.
According to the Media Officer of the club, Peter Abaje, Sharks will win a major trophy this season as the club has set the tune on by winning the gold invitational clubs tournament.
Abaje also talked about Sharks shopping for a quality attacker and striker to replace Christina Pyagbara who is now a player of Sister club, Dolphins.
Appealing to fans and followers of Sharks to continue to support the club till another major trophy is won, as Sharks as won a major trophy before, when Sharks lifted the WAFU cup.
According to Abaje, for Sharks to achieve its aim, the search for a quality player to replace Pyagbara is on seriously and in no distance time, Sharks will come up with a player that followers and supporters of Sharks will be happy with the club.
The blue Angels media spokesman disclosed that Sharks is result oriented this season as the management is prepared to make sacrifice to see that Port Harcourt celebrates a major trophy.
Though the league starts march II all clubs had been advised to be on their toes.
As the league management has issued out the closing date of the season registration to February 13.
Port Harcourt football fans desperately want Sharks and sister club to give them a trophy to celebrate. Dolphins is in the continent and aimed at re-enacting the feat she achieve years ago. ###
