Rivers: Hard Times Await Fake Trado Medicine Practitioners

With the inauguration of the Rivers State chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Traditional Medicine Practitioners (NANTMP), hard times now await non-professionals in the industry.

The state chairman of the body, Chief Dr. Nyefibo N.C made this known at a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Tuesday. He issued a 7 day ultimatum to all practitioners to register with the group, threatening that anyone who refuses to comply with the directive of the association would be prosecuted.

Chief Dr. Nyefibo told newsmen that a 3 man Inspectorate Team has been constituted to verify and authenticate the following: number of traditional medicine practitioners, number of herbal products dealers, number of herbal stores/shops and their years of operation in the state.

The chairman of Rivers State NANTMP, however disclosed that one Mr. Godwin who hails from Delta state is now parading himself as the chairman of NANTMP in the state.

According to Chief Nyefibo, NANTMP is not divided in Rivers State, adding that he (Nyefibo) remains the authentic chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Traditional Medicine Practitioners (NANTMP).

Chief Nyefibo alleged that Mr. Godwin’s intention was to deceive unsuspecting practitioners and to set confusion within the organization. He pleaded that all matters related to NANTMP should be directed to him and no one else. ###
