The decision of the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate for the February 28th general elections, Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike to worship at the popular Omega Power Ministry, OPM along the Airport Road last Sunday February 1st, 2015 has sent a very serious and dangerous message to the camp of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC in Rivers as telephone calls and short message services were seriously circulated within and outside the party alleging fears of losing the upcoming polls and demanding the significance of that Sunday service at OPM.
It would be recalled that the PDP standard bearer for the February polls, Barr. Wike equally worshipped at The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG Regional Headquarters at the instance of the visit of its general overseer, Pastor Enoch A. Adeboye penultimate week.
Dependable sources within the APC told newsmen in Port Harcourt that Wike’s attendance to that service coupled with the General Overseers’ Prediction of victory for the PDP was worrisome alleging that the PDP candidate must have genuinely repented in other to coast home with victory at the upcoming polls.
The source maintained that, there was fears in the APC camp, especially on the prediction of the general overseer of OPM, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere who was noted for his utterances and predictions as never falling but always fulfilling.
The top APC stalwart who revealed the situation in the part calls for prayers for their victory, if God could change his directives.
Meanwhile, a member of the PDP in the state, Amaewhule Promise who wonders why the APC should be jittery over his candidate’s worship at the OPM last Sunday, stated that Wike is a Christian and at liberty to worship at any church of his choice at anytime and called on APC members to declare their return for the PDP now, since victory is sure for the PDP at all levels.
However, political analysts have predicted massive defection from the APC to the ruling PDP in the days ahead as the PDP is leaving no stone unturned to actulise victory in all the LGAs of Rivers.
The nomination of prominent Ogoni son and former commissioner for Finance in Rivers State Hon. Kenneth Kobani for a ministerial appointment has equally sent a strong message of hope to the Ogonis which according to analysts and Ogoni indigenes was a boaster for February polls from the Ogoni axis of the state.
It is on record that the Ken Saro-Wiwa’s Associates had beforehand throw their weight behind PDP candidates at all levels and the Associations’ position according to the people of Ogoni is fast yielding results especially as it has identified some common enemies of the Ogoni people.
As the days draws closer to the presidential poll as well as the governorship poll, and the month of February charged with daily political meetings, the international weekly, The Newswriter is poised to illuminating its readers with the facts and figures of the general elections. ###
