Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudum Nwuche has condemned the Rivers East Senatorial primary election.
Nwuche, who lost to an unknown Osinaka Ideozu, said the primary election was a charade.
Before staging a walk-out on the re-scheduled election, the former lawmaker told newsmen that the leadership of the PDP in Rivers State rigged the election to favour its preferred candidate.
He also alleged that names on the delegates’ list were changed, adding that some aspirants were intimidated from participating in the election.
“I protested at the rigged PDP primary where party leaders in the state were instructing party delegates. Some mentioned Nyesom Wike, that he had instructed them.
“This is a dark day for democracy and Rivers State. I have served this party faithfully. I have joined the party since 1998 and today is the darkest day.
“The delegates were not allowed to vote according to their conscience. They were intimidated. The names of our supporters were changed.
“I have told my supporters to be calm because they are very saddened, but I’m appealing to them not to allow their passion to rule them”, he stated.
