The Technical Director of Nigeria Football, Coach Shuaibu Amodu has told controversial Coach Stephen Okechukwu Keshi to leave the Super Eagles.
Amodu made this remark after Keshi controversial move to Equatorial Guinea during the formal 2015 AFCON draw ceremony in that country.
According to statement credited to Amodu, Keshi was advised to leave the Super Eagles as a coach, saying that Keshi has no special thing to offer the Super Eagles, that he had given the Super Eagles all he had and had no more thing to offer the Super Eagles.
He was quoted to have told the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), that Keshi has given us all what he had and had won the AFCON 2013 for us. And that is why when I was called upon to rescue the Super Eagles dream of qualifying for Equatorial Guinea 2015 Nations cup.
I said, Keshi should better be allowed to finish the last two games, so that he would be in a better position to explain whatever that happened”.
Coach Amodu said he has long known that Keshi has finished all what he needed to add to the Super Eagles, hence he refused to jump at the offer when he was called to handle the last two games of the Super Eagles for Equatorial Guinea 2015 AFCON qualifiers.
President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick has also upheld Amodu’s submission, saying for our football to move on, Keshi should please heed to the advise of the veteran coach, who is his senior in the business.
Amodu further said, he felt for Keshi but he has to tell himself the truth as his senior. It is a pity he found himself in the position he finds himself.###
