The supervisory councilor of Sports Obio/Akpor Local Government council was excited for Obio/Akpor Local Government Football team wining the 2014 Rivers State Governor’s cup.
Hon. Charles N. Amadi speaking to sports journalist shortly after the presentation of the trophy said, he was excited to see his local government council football team lifting the Rivers State 2014 Governor’s Unity Cup.
According to him, when he was appointed into office, he said to himself that he will make history for himself within the shortest time he is going to be in office.
He pointed out that Obio/Akpor football team has been winning the governor’s cup, so he said, he too will repeat that feat in his short tenure, with the council hence, he puts his all to support the team to have won the trophy.
He stressed that he is looking at taking the victory beyond Rivers State and 2014, rather he is looking at when the new in-coming administration, adding that the players will be sponsored beyond Rivers State to national and international level.
It would be recalled that Eleme who played Obio/Akpor in the finals have not conceded any goal throughout the tournament till Obio/Akpor break that record by scoring Eleme 3 goals to nil in the penalty shoot after the game ended in goalless draw.
Both teams played their best to the gallery, missing valuable goal scoring opportunities. Eleme came so close in scoring but could not covert their chances. For Obio/Akpor, the players could not have a perfect finishing plan to outwit Eleme through it weak defence. ###
