Sea Pirates Terrorize Bonny River

As the Christmas season approaches, Bonny water ways are no longer comfortable to Bonny commuters, as sea pirates commence their deadly acts.

On Tuesday, November 25th, 2014 travellers to and from Bonny became victims of the dreaded pirates.

This publication gathered that three boats enroute to Bonny were raided by some notorious men along Onne rivers and Isaka creek respectively.

Reliable source said the pirates dragged the boats into one of the creeks along Onne river and offloaded passengers’ properties and monies and abandoned them to their fate.

The Bonny Marine Transporters Association, Beach Master, Mr. Paul John Jumbo, confirmed the incident when contacted.

Mr. Jumbo noted that the incident occurred in morning hours of Tuesday as some boats sailing for the day activities where the notorious gun men trapped the boats.

The Beach Master said that the pirates went with one small boat (W19) with the engine, while the other, 2 big boats where rendered empty. He further stated that about 3 weeks ago along the same river the pirates attacked one big boat with double engines and made a way with the boat and the engines while the passengers suffered on the mangrove for many hours.

In a chat with this reporter, Mr. Jumbo appealed to federal and state governments to add more patrol boats along the sea, he suggested poor areas the gun boats are suppose to be mount, the platform, Onne rivers, Dutch Island and Isaka by Okrika creeks.

According to him, if these places are well blocks, the sea pirates may not have enough chances to robbed any boats.

He used the medium to thanked officers and men of NIMASA for their aid in recovering one of boats stolen by sea pirates 3 weeks ago.

In another development, Coconut Estate water front encountered different experiences as the body of a young man drift around the waterfront.

Information reaching our news desk said that 2 nights before the drifting corpse, that the deceased was with some uniform men. And that the deceased name is popularly known as the big daddy. That the corpse (big daddy) floats with a hand cupped.

The corpse has been buried when contacted the family of the deceased, the mother could not make any statement, but she said that she had handed everything to God Almighty for his judgment.   ###
