Omehia Speaks On Chances Of PDP In Rivers State

omehiaThe sacked Governor of Rivers State whose tenure was terminated by the Supreme Court, Sir Celestine Omehia, says the Peoples Democratic Party must work towards winning all elections in the state come 2015, stressing that the state’s future depends on it.

Disclosing this in a press briefing in Abuja on Monday, Omehia argued that by virtue of its central position in Nigeria’s political and economic sphere, all members of the PDP in Rivers State must shun divisive tendencies and rally round those to emerge as the party’s flag bearers at all levels.

The former governor, who attributed the high number of aspirants jostling for the party’s ticket for elective offices in the state to the confidence Rivers people have in the party, said, “I humbly urge all of us to put hands together to return our performing President, brother, friend and in-law Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock.

“In the same token, we must make sure our great party (PDP) wins all the elections in our state at all levels. We can do this if we are united and love one another.

“Yes, many of our people have indicated interest to run for different political positions because we are a people with a common goal and destiny. But our interest for our party and the state must overrun our personal interests,” he added.

Omehia went on to admonish members of the party against allowing the outcome of the forthcoming primary elections in the state to deter them from rallying support for the party.
