The popes working under this claimed authority made many changes of the holy words of Yahweh as was originally recorded and oppositions to his authority attracted severe or capital punishments. The original laws of Yahweh were amended by the church, for instance the second of the ten commandments of Yahweh was removed which is written in this form “Thou shall not make unto thee any graven images, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in water or under the earth: Thou shall not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them, for Yahweh I am jealous person visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the fourth generations of them that hate me. And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments”. Because of this removal, the church used the third commandment being “Thou shall not take the name of Yahweh in vain, for Yahweh will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain” to fill the position of the removed second commandment.
And in order to have complete Ten Commandments, the church divided the tenth commandment, which bears. “Thou shall not covet thy neighbour’s wife nor his manservant, nor his maid servant, nor his ass, nor anything that belong to thy neighbor”, into two parts, one part representing the ninth commandment as “Thou shall not covet thy neighbour’s wife” and the second part being “Thou shall not covet they neighbour’s goods” to represent the tenth commandment. As the Roman Catholic Church ascended to power, the Dark Age began, faith was transferred from Yahoshea Meshiyach – the true foundation to the Pope of Rome. The arrangement led the popes to make laws to change the commandments of Yahweh. And to achieve that, the holy scriptures was tailored and suppressed by the church. And that gave way for fraud, deception and iniquity in high places because instead of men to read the original scriptures and be guided by the inspirational light, the minds of people were turned to the fallible, erring and cruel man who rules by human laws and traditions.
As many who rejected that pope or church authority were subjected to severe torture and capital punishments.
Let us turn to the book of WEH LECKY. “That the church of Rome has shed more innocent blood than any other institution that has ever existed among mankind will be questioned by no protestant who has a competent knowledge of history…it is impossible to form the complete conception of the multitude of her victims”. – (History of the Rise and Influence of the Spirit of Rationalism in Europe Vol. 2 page 32).
Again another book by John Dowling captioned “THE HISTORY OF ROMANISM pp 541, 542 supported it in this manner “it is estimated an average of 40, 000 religious murders for every year of the existence of popery”.
Therefore through the pope and his Bishops, the scripture was overshadowed or subdued and Roman traditions and myths were instituted as church doctrine until when the light of reformation appeared through Marthin Luther who denounced the pope and his legacy and stood for the subdued Bible.
Martin Luther showed his commitment by making pronouncements like “ I know that the pope is an Anti-Christ, and that his SEE is that of Satan himself. Papacy is the general chase, by command of the Roman pontiff, for the purpose of running down and destroying souls”.
Other reformers like Charles Spurgeon supported Martin Luther king this way, “we must warn with judicious boldness those who incline towards the errors of Rome, we must tell them of the black doings of popery”. “Many other reformers, which include John Knox, John Wesley, John Calvin etc emerged from time to time to strengthen the points of Protestantism against Catholic especially on issue of Bible or scriptural truth.
But the Protestants have theirown deficiencies, because while they were aware of many changes by Roman Catholic, the Protestants adopted almost all the doctrines of the Catholicity. For instance, the Sunday worship, Easter and Christmas, Cross Symbol, believe in existence of Satan etc were seen as healthy practices by the Protestants. They didn’t form a formidable and decisive oppositions against the pope and the Roman Church rather they only succeeded in forming their own religious group like the Lutheran Church of Christ, the Anglican, the Methodist, the Baptist etc all adopting almost the doctrines of Catholicity.
And presently, the Protestantism who claim to stand for Bible – Bible alone are abandoning their position and adjusting with the Roman Catholic over many issues. And Dr. Robert Shuller’s Herald Examiner Sept. 19, 1987 puts the present rapour between Catholic and Protestants in this way “it is time for Protestants to go to the shepherd (the Pope) and say, what do we have to do to come back”.
