Amaechi’s Parallel Government in 2015

amaechiFor now Nigeria as a nation is in nervous state, and unable to relax due to series of catastrophe rocking the entire country. The citizenry are currently living in perpetual fear following the unrepentant activities of the members of the Islamic fundamentalists popularly known as Boko Haram. Boko Haram has caused untold hardship on the people of the country. Besides, the activities of Boko Haram, the leading opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) does not help matters. It’s chieftains and faithful are frequently uttering words that are capable of disintegrating Nigeria.

Few days ago, Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi declared that his opposition APC will not hesitate to form a parallel Government if the 2015 general election is rigged by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This statement issued by Governor Amaechi was dreadful. Amaechi is a public figure, and as a governor, one of his basic statutory responsibilities is to protect and defend the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and not to incite anybody against the Nigerian State.

The idea of running a parallel government is not a new thing to Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, as a governor of Rivers State. Several institutions, organisations and unions are being divided and running parallel leadership. For instance, the Rivers State House of Assembly is divided, the Rivers State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has two chairmen, the Rivers State wing of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) is highly factionalized with two presidents, the Rivers State Council of Nigeria Civil Service Union operates with two factions, infact the entire state is also divided. Governor Amaechi is administering a divided State.

Public officers should learn how to bridle their tongues so that they will not set Nigeria on fire. The country is bigger than everyone of us.###
