Former Gabros Player Advises Govt To Support Football Talents

Former Gabros football club of Nnewi player, Mr. E. Uchess has advised government at all level to support football talents to grow.

The player whose football career was cut short off, because of lack of sponsorship to foreign club, made this remark while kick starting his first all time age grade football competition to establish an Academy at No. 1 Bende Street, popularly known as No. 1 field Port Harcourt.

The age grade football competition has U-13 to U-16 which is already ongoing at the stated centre.

Ten U-13 teams are battling for the tag cash prize of N70,000 seventy thousand naira for the first place team, N50,000 fifty thousand naira for the second place team and N30,000 thirty thousand naira for the third place team. While 11 teams registered for U-16.

Speaking to The Newswriter sport Mr. E. Uchess revealed that he will constituted an academy from the players discovered from the competition, adding that U-13 to U-16 could discover the right age grade for Nigeria in age grade football as both age grade competitions are ongoing simultaneously.

The amiable football promoter said, he is looking at getting the best hidden football talents in the land, to establish “all time age grade football academy”.

He urged the government of the day at all level to do well to support younger football talents to grow as there are many unattended footballers everywhere, saying this is not good.

“As a footballer, I will support all disciplined and focused young upcoming players to any level, hence, I have set this competition to discover as many promising young footballers in the state.

My vision is to keep on discovering them till I have a squad where the national teams’ at all level will benefit from the academy. I believe foreign clubs will also harvest players from my academy”, he said.

He also promised to extend his kind gesture to all coaches and players discovered from the competitions in sponsorship, scholarship to any level. According to him, he may also go on partnership with the government or multinational corporations to achieve his plan.

He also advised his fellow former players to think in the direction of establishing formidable football academy to help young upcoming footballers to grow as their career in their lives. ###
