Impeccable sources have hinted this weekly that the parliamentarian representing the Rivers South East Senatorial District in the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe and the State Chairman of the Opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, Hon. Davies Ikanya have parted ways. According to information gathered by our political correspondent, problem started when the Rivers APC Chairman and other party chieftains had clandestinely endorsed Hon. Dakuku Peterside, a lawmaker representing Andoni/Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency in the Lower House of the National Assembly for the standard bearer of the party in the 2015 governorship election in the state.
“Magnus Abe should forget his gubernatorial ambition because the APC in the state has already endorsed Hon. Dakuku Peterside,” a dependable source told our reporter.
With the decision of the party, to give its governorship flag to Hon. Peterside, the Senator is in dilemma. Source close to the senator told this publication that Abe is becoming uncomfortable within the party day by day. The source revealed that, the federal parliamentarian is considering to dump the APC and move to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Newswriter reliably gathered that, Senator Abe had recently had a crucial closed door meeting with the President of the House of Senate, Senator David Mark. The outcome of the meeting was not known, but knowledgeable sources told The Newswriter that the discussion during the visit was centred on the planned defection to the ruling party by the senator representing the Rivers South East Senatorial District in the National Assembly. Sources also notified this weekly that, the senator has met with some top members of PDP in the state.
If Senator Abe’s plan to desert the APC is not nip in the bud, it might affect the party in 2015 general election, especially in the Ogoni axis of the state.###
