A frontline politician, and a governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Barr. Dumo Lulu-Briggs has criticized a situation where another Ikwerre man will take over from the present Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi who is an Ikwerre man.
The Business icon dropped the hint in a sideline interview at the rally organized by the Mainstream Coalition at the Liberation Stadium over the weekend in Port Harcourt.
Barr. Lulu-Briggs stated that the Ikwerre ethnic group is not super ethnic group than others in the state and therefore can not produce governor in the 2015 election to the detriment of other tribes in the state.
He told journalists that the Ikwerre people are good people and should not hold other ethnic nationalities to ransom.
The Kalabari born politician stated that the Ikwerres have their fair share in the political calendar of the state and therefore cannot intimidate other tribes on the 2015 elections.
The PDP governorship aspirant said Nigeria become the largest economy in Africa under President Goodluck Jonathan where rice and wheat are produced locally in large quantities.
During his presentation at the Mega Rally, Chief Barr. Dumo Lulu-Briggs Rivers People said voting for President Goodluck Jonathan is a settled issue because their support for the President is irrevocable and irreversible.
The philanthropist said the mega rally was organized to support the President and for Rivers State to reclaim their stolen mandate in Rivers come 2015 noting that even Governor Amaechi will vote for the President come 2015 general election.
He advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State to unite as a family while requesting that the President should look into the issue of power-shift in Rivers State because what is good for Nigeria is good for Rivers State, as he also cited the case of Akwa Ibom State government where there is power shift.
Earlier, the leader of the Mainstream Coalition, Prof. Israel Owate said the event is used as an avenue where Rivers people will speak their minds concerning the politics of the State.
He stated that rotation of political offices in Rivers State is not negotiable, most especially the position of the governor after the tenure of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi for peace and stability.
Also speaking, the Director-General of Dumo Lulu-Briggs Campaign Organization, Dr. Maxwell Eremie maintained that since President Goodluck Jonathan enjoyed the product of rotation the same should be done in Rivers State, saying Rivers people will resist any oppression against the rotation of governorship seat in the state.###
