The people of Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State trooped out enmasse to honour their son, Dr Farah Dagogo, who picked the intent and nomination forms of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the House of Assembly ticket in Degema Constituency.
The mammoth crowd converged early at the PDP party Secretariat amidst cheers and ecstasy, following the acceptance of the aspirant to vie for the coveted seat.
Addressing supporters at the party secretariat, PDP leader and Chieftain, Chief (Hon) Ombo Benibo noted that he was personally involved in the Farah Project, owing to analysis carried out by him on different aspirants and found out that Farah Dagogo is head and shoulders above others.
He described the aspirant as highly favoured in the area, based on the unwavering support he enjoys amongst his people and the state in general.
Chief Benibo said the aspirant’s service delivery in the area is second to none, even before he declared interest to run for the House of Assembly, adding that he was behind the success of the emergence of high profile politicians in DELGA, using his resources to put things right in the scheme of things.
“We, the leadership of the party in DELGA are impressed that he has finally accepted to deliver us by honouring the clarion call to contest for the House of Assembly ticket. We are indeed happy that his acceptance is a new beginning in the political reshaping of the area. We are proud of this great performer who will in no doubt change the face of politics in the area and represent the people very well in the hallowed chambers”, Chief Benibo noted.
Another political pillar in the area, Chief (Hon) Elias Davies described the aspirant as a new ray of hope in the political terrain of the area, pointing out that the youthful aspirant has all it takes to take DELGA to an enviable height. He called on the good people of the area to queue behind the new wind of change for a stable and dynamic leadership.
Responding, Dr. Farah Dagogo, the amiable aspirant said he was overwhelmed over the magnanimity of his constituents by purchasing the intent and nomination forms for him, saying he would do all within his powers to represent and bring positive change and development to the area.
He promised to tackle developmental challenges in the area, if voted into power, adding that it is imperative for Degema Local Government Area to move forward and a new kind of leadership is required, which must also be imbued with a sense of service and dedication to the common good of the people.
Farah Dagogo further assured that his support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at all levels is permanent and paramount, also noted that the return of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in 2015 presidential general election is non negotiable.
Astute politicians, opinion leaders and stakeholders from the area attended the event among whom are Hon Tonye Tyger, PDP Chairman (DELGA), Siki Akwabala, Chief Omubo Sunday, members of DELGA Grassroot Movement, women and youths groups amongst others too numerous to mention. ###
