Vigilante Group Apprehends 4 Suspects Murder in Rivers

DEAD BODYThe Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN, Rivers State Command has continued in their resolve to combat crimes in all the nooks and crannies of the state, despite the state government’s refusal to integrate the grassroots security out-fit as part of its security networks in the state.

The State Commander of VGN, Rivers State Command, Mr. Mambo T. Wilcox in a press release, said his men in Ochiagba Community, Ahoada East LGA of Rivers State on the 3rd of October, 2014 found a dead man, along Ochiagba-Ogbologolo road in the LGA.

Commander Wilcox maintained that the dead body was found by the Ward Commander, WC, Mr. Otishi Cosmos, who thereafter reported the incident to the District Commander, DC of Ahoada Area Command, Mr. Amobi Richard, who further mobilized his men on surveillance to ascertain the immediate cause of the man’s death.

In the course of investigation, according to Wilcox, his men apprehended two suspects, Mr. Abuwhine Emmanuel and Mr. Precious Okechukwu, who in their confessional statements admitted the murder of the deceased Late Obunikem.

The release from Commander Wilcox disclosed that the two suspects confessed that they were four in number, two from Ochiagba and the other two from Ogbologbolo Communities in the LGA.

Wilcox maintained that the two apprehended suspects were found with locally made pistols. He pointed out that the paramount ruler of Ochiagba, Chief Benjamin Okirie and other Chiefs of the community were invited alongside the paramount ruler of the neighbouring community of Ogbologbolo, to the crime scene by VGN officers.

The State VGN Commander further stated that the combined efforts of the paramount rulers and men of the VGN in the area led to the arrest of the other 2 suspects and subsequently handed the four suspects to the police in the area, for further investigations.

Wilcox, however used the medium to call on the state governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi to look at the plights of Rivers men and women in the state VGN, numbering over 4000, in their quest to help the people of the state to sleep with their two eyes closed.

The State Commander reiterated that VGN is not a partisan organization and cannot be one, adding that their neutrality has helped them to achieve some of the feats in combating crimes at the grassroots, with bare hands, over the years.

He affirmed that VGN, Rivers State Command will do everything possible to ensure that lives and property of Rivers residents are protected, especially now that elections are fast approaching. ###
