The people of Ikwerre ethnic nationality have endorsed the immediate past Minister of State for Education, Chief Barr. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) come 2015.
The Ikwerres made this known at the weekend during the Ikwerre ethnic nationality solidarity rally to galvanize support for Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to run for the presidency and Barr. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike for Governor come 2015 at the popular Oroworokwo Secondary School playground in Port Harcourt.
In his opening remark, the chairman of the occasion, the Eze Igbo 1 of Ikwerre, Chief Maxwell Tasie Amadi stated that the basic reason for organizing the rally was to thank the president, Dr. Jonathan for his Transformation Agenda in the country that has made the nation to have the best economy in Africa and the Eze is very confident that his (Jonathan) works will be better after 2015. He also hailed the number one citizen of the nation for appointing their son Chief Nyesom Wike as a Minister in his cabinet, who he said has showed the true qualities of an Ikwerre son at the Federal level.
The Eze Igbo I of Ikwerreland also assured that the failure of Amaechi who claims to be an Ikwerre son would be corrected by their true son, Nyesom Wike. He used the medium to call Nyesom Wike to contest the governorship position in the support of the people of Ikwerre ethnic nationality and others in the state due to his political doggedness to ensure that the PDP remains what it is in the state today.
On his part, Prof. Didia Justin blasted all those insulting President Jonathan especially Gov. Amaechi, saying that he had never trusted Amaechi, and at last the governor has failed his people and Rivers at large. He disowned Gov. Amaechi as an Ikwerre man “because he does not posses any trait of Ikwerre person,” alleging that Amaechi is a Yoruba man.
Honourable Ken Chikere representing the Phalga Constituency I in the lower chamber of National Assembly thanked other ethnic groups in the state for supporting Goodluck Jonathan and Wike for 2015, insisting that their support for the both politicians are unconditional. He also pleaded with Wike to return to Rivers State and salvage his people from the “Pharoah” called Amaechi.
Hon. Chief Frank Owhor who represented the Ikwerre Chiefs and Elders apologized to the people of Rivers State for presenting a “rascal” like Amaechi as a governor, “but they are now correcting it” by presenting Wike to vindicate them for the sake of history.
He reiterated their total support for Dr. Jonathan 2015, and assured that the Ikwerres can give him as many votes as possible during the elections.
Also speaking, the former Deputy Speaker of the Lower House of the National Assembly, Hon. Austin Opara said Amaechi should hide his face in shame for his numerous failures and boasted that the governor can never convert the Ikwerre people to APC.
He used the medium to apologize on behalf of the people of Ikwerre ethnic nationality to the President for the numerous insults from Amaechi stating that it is not in the character of the Ikwerre man to be involved in things that do not dignify the status of responsible individuals.
Chief Sergeant Awuse, the “bulldozer” as he is popularly called said Amaechi is the most corrupt politician in Nigeria considering the number of assets he has acquired as a governor, he described him as a nobody even in his new political party, regretting that they will only use and dump him.
The bulldozer also called on Wike to contest insisting that there has never been a zoning formula in Rivers State, urging all to contest for the party primaries. ###
