IYC Disciplinary Committee Report on Suspension of Comrade Udengs Eradiri
The committee which was set up by the Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide has carried out critical investigation into the series of allegations leveled against some members of the National Executive Council and the following were revealed.
- That the National Executive Council led by Comrade Udengs Eradiri is not conscious of the pains of the large population of Ijaw Youths as it does not encourage peaceful co existence among members beginning with his zone (CENTRAL) where he created several factions.
- That the Deputy President of IYC did not take an adequate responsibility which includes: taking charge of zonal exco formations. Interrogation revealed that he, the Deputy President (Rasaq) claims that Comrade Udengs Eradiri did not give him any chance to operate due to his (Udeng’s) high handedness, incessant acts of impunity and intimidation/threats during exco meetings.
- Committee observes that the entire national exco is in crises due to lack of communication between the Udengs and other exco members as 75% of exco members complain of lack of information as per council operations while a lot of rumour has outweighed their thinking and all information when compared with that of exco meetings, don’t correlate. We further confirmed that most of Udengs actions are not to the knowledge of Council Secretary.
- Committee gathered strong information of financial involvement secretly in the name of council without knowledge of other executive council members by Udengs. Information gathering revealed that monies to the tune of Two hundred million, five hundred thousand, six hundred and forty-eight naira, ninety-five kobo only (200,500,648.95) needs to be explained by Udengs. His deliberate act of receiving monies on behalf of council without the knowledge of financial secretary and treasurer and afterward spending from his pocket for hiring of halls is considered detrimental to council’s success in her pursuit.
Recommendations:
(1) Committee hereby recommends that elders be consulted to form an advisory council to monitor, guard and counsel the national exco as this will enthrone orderliness
(2) Furthermore, that Comrade Udengs Eradiri should remain suspended and should not contest any elective position or even be appointed into any committee for a period of two (2) years to ensure undue influence as well as serve as lesson to acts of impunity to other exco members.
(3) That national exco should go for leadership training to enhance peaceful co existence and team work.
(4) Finally, that national exco should call for a national congress and render sincere apologies to the Ijaw nation as a show of humility.
