High Rate of Caesarean Operations On Pregnant Women Condemnable – Dr. Eze

As Caesarean operations among pregnant women in the country increases daily, a foremost gynecologist and the first medical doctor from the old Ahoada Division, HRH Dr. Friday Eze said the action by the young generation doctors is condemnable.

Dr. Eze made the remark at the celebration of his 81st birthday, 50 years in the medical practice and the launching of his book titled “The Pilgrimage At 80”.

The event took place over the weekend at the Main Hall of Port Harcourt Club.

Dr. Eze stated that in the recent times most medical doctors are not patience with the patients thereby increases the chances of Caesarean operations in pregnant women which are dangerous to their health.

Asked why there are low reading habit despite the number of books coming out daily, Dr. Eze maintained that the decline in the reading culture is also due to the availability of the internet which made a lot of students to be lazy.

“We use to read for four hours daily in the library, but now students will go to the internet and look for materials to print out” he said.

Dr. Eze who is also an author advised the present generation to go to the library before going to the internet.

Earlier, the chairman of the event and a former Deputy Speaker House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Chibudom Nwuche described Dr. Eze as a “medical icon,” who has reached the peak of his profession.

Rt. Hon. Nwuche said, Dr. Eze being the first medical doctor in the old Ahoada Region has contributed greatly as a role model who has continued to stabilize the people.

On his intention on the current political scene, he said he is still waiting, but stated that those who stole his mandate in the past their mandate will be stolen someday, while advising the people to support President Goodluck Jonathan for his bid to transform the country, saying he is still consulting on his political career.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Sir. Nnodi Michael described Dr. Eze as a Royal father with 50 years outstanding as a medical doctor.

Highlights of the occasion was the unveiling of the book, songs and speech by Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Rivers State and Dr. Uzugbani Ekpeye. ###
