There are strong indications that President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has concluded plans to reconstitute his cabinet to bring on board men and women with political clout to push his campaign nationwide.
This was confirmed at the weekend by a reliable source in the Aso Rock, Abuja.
No fewer than six ministers and political aides are expected to drop from the Federal Cabinet before the end of October.
According to the source, “From the information I have, all of them are resigning to go and run for governorship or other tickets in their respective states on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). They will tender their letters of resignation to Mr. President mid-October and they will be released to go and pursue their political ambition for the good of democracy and development of the country.”
Impeccable sources hinted this weekly that, the Minister of State for Education, Chief Barr. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike is one of the Ministers that will quit the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to pursue his gubernatorial ambition in Rivers State where Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is the incumbent.
Before this time, Wike’s guber ambition has divided several ethnic nationalities in Rivers State, especially the Kalabari and the Ogoni.
The Kalabaris at different fora declared that, it is their turn to produce the next governor of Rivers State come 2015.
According to them, in the past sixteen (16) years the uplanders are occupying the Brick House, saying that for the equity and fair play, they should be allowed to produce a governor of Rivers State in May 29, 2015. Ogonis are also clamouring for a governor in 2015.
Wike’s ambition has sent veritable fears into the hearts of some aspirants because of his political strategies within his possession.
Information reaching our political desk had it that, plans are concluded for the junior Minister in the Federal Ministry of Education to purchase the guber intent declaration and nomination form as soon as he resigns from the FEC, mid october
Political pundits predicted that the coming of Chief Wike to join the unaccountable numbers of guber aspirants will propel several of them to quit their ambition, knowing fully well that they cannot withstand his (Wike) political arsenal in his kit.
Also if Chief Wike finally declares to gun for the Brick House, it might be the end of the All progressives Congress APC in Rivers State come 2015.
In the couple of weeks, the political activities in the state will take a different shape and point at where the next governor of the state will emerge.###
