A former chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon. Prince Timothy Nsirim has kicked against the clamour call by some politicians and stakeholders to zone governorship position in 2015.
There have been agitations by the politicians and stakeholders across the state that it is the turn of an Ogoni, Kalabari to produce the governor of Rivers State in 2015.
In a chat with journalists shortly after a convention organized by the Ikwerre Chiefs and Elders Forum at Rumueme, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon. Prince Nsirim who described zoning of governorship agitation by some politicians and stakeholders for a particular ethnic tribe in the state as baseless, recalled that since the inception of civil rule in 1999 till date, Rivers State has never witnessed a governorship position zoned to any tribe rather it was based on a level playground where all the aspirants participated for the elections and a leader emerges at the end.
According to him, election is like on examination where all students participate “Like in the exam, the INEC is the pricinpal of the aptitude test while the party is the owner of Jamb” suggesting that all the aspirants for the governorship position should be allowed to contest the election and anyone who emerged winner at the primaries should go for the general elections”.
Prince Nsirim who recalled how Ikwerres were marginalized in Rivers State despite the fact that they are the hen that lay the golden eggs as they are one of the ethnic groups that produce the highest oil and accommodate companies, investors and institutions in the state were unable to produce governorship in the state until God answered their prayers urged other tribes, in Rivers State to work hard to achieve their target and not through zoning.
On the recent scenario at the Rivers State High Court where Justice Daisy Okocha led other judges of the judiciary to hold meeting at the court premises, Hon. Nsirim described the action of the chairman Caretaker Committee of Phalga, Barr. Nnamdi Wuche to protest against Okocha as wrong stressing that parents should not allow their children to be used because of the five thousand naira they gave to them, pointing that the APC government-led by Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi has committed genocide, treasonable felony.
According to him, Daisy Okocha is the authentic Chief Judge of Rivers State.
Hon. Nsirim who recalled that since the creation of Rivers State in 1967 the state has not supported opposition apart from Amaechi’s administration described Amaechi as a failure. ###
