OGS Old Boys Pay Tribute TO Barr Chinda, Eulogize Him

The members of Okrika Grammar School Old Boys Association (OGSOBA) have on 23rd September 2014 paid their last respect to a old boy, Late chief (Barr.) C.A.W. Chinda (JP), the Eze Epara Odani of Elelenwo at his residence.

Members of the Association said the purpose of paying their last tribute and having a special service of songs in his honour was to show an appreciation and express how much he (the late Chinda) loved OGSOBA, as their meting day which is Thursday falls on the main day of the service of songs.

Sir. Eze Omodu who spoke said Late Barr. Chinda was of the pioneer students of OGS in 1940, one who proceeded to oversea for further studies, adding that he was very good in sports and games, as they were only 18 students from Ikwerre ethnic nationality attended Okrika Grammar School.

Others who also eulogized Late Barr. Chinda include: His Excellency Chief Ada George, Sir. G.T.G Toby, Prof. Godwin Tasie, Engr Irisominabo, Prof. Onyejiekwa and Barr. (Chief) Mike W.A. D.I. Nwondu. In their various speeches they described Late Chinda as a “honest and humble personality” pointing out hat O.C.J Okocha was a product of his law firm and that his legal practice at a time was like a community service without any charge, as he was someone that was worthy of emulation, adding that his death was a lost to the family, the Elelenwo community and the OGS old boys.

Earlier the chairman of the Port Harcourt Branch of OGSOBA, Prof. E.E. Opuwariso said late Barr. Chinda loved the association even in his 90s, a contributor, a friend, a father and adviser to the association. Meanwhile, OGSOBA enjoined the family especially Hon. Chinda to take heart and bear the lost and prayed God to consoled them. ###
