The newly appointed chairman of the Caretaker Committee in the Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, Mr. Alwell Daokorite George and the loyalists to the former council chairman, Mr. Ojukaye Flag Amachree are flexing muscles over some properties belonging to the council.
Despite the dissolution of all political appointments announced by the new CTC chairman, and also directed such appointees to handing over council properties in their possessions to the relevant authorities, some former political appointees under the immediate past council chairman, Mr. Flag Amachree have refused to comply with the official directive.
Our investigations revealed that the council Motor Park and the Asalga Resort Hotel are still under the control of the sacked political appointees.
The new CTC boss has made several efforts to ensure that the two major council properties (motor park and Asalga Resort Hotel) should be handed over to his administration.
However, information had it that last week, some vehicles of the council were forcefully recovered from the ex-appointees by the soldiers stationed in the area.
The recovered official vehicles are now parked at the premises of the council secretariat as at the time of filing in this report. ###
