Former Super Eagles home based goalie has said that it is time for him to make a return to the Super Eagles.
The Dolphins of Port Harcourt first choice said, he had done it before and can still do it again in the colours of the Super Eagles, saying he still has a part to play in the goal keeping department in the Super Eagles.
Rotimi is in terrific fine form this season in the colours of Dolphins of Port Harcourt in the Nigeria Professional football League.
It would be recalled that Rotimi made costly mistakes in goal for the WAFU cup many years ago and has picked his form this season, keeping. 13 Clean saves in all competitions including 10 in the league.
The Dolphins of Port Harcourt safe hands was Vincent Enyeama 2nd choice for the Super Eagles in 2003 and 2004 before he went in search of greener pastures in Israel and lost his 2nd choice position to Austin Ejide. And since his return to the Nigeria Professional football league in 2004, he has been in fine form with Dolphins, though he left to Israel again in 2005 and returned to Dolphins in 2007.
Statics available according to his records, he has played more than 200 matches for Dolphins in all competitions.
His clean sheets in the domestic leagues are Kano Pillars at liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt, against Sharks Stadium at Sharks, sunshine stars in Akure, Bayelsa United and Rangers International.
It is on record that Rotimi has saved three (3) penalty kicks in the league in away games such as Elkanemi, Kaduna United and Sunshine Stars, such a keeper deserve national call up.
According to the Dolphins of Port Harcourt safe hand, he has paid his dues and deserved to be call up for the senior national team.
“The Super Eagles coaches should please look my way, no one is taking away anything from Vincent Enyeama as Nigeria number 1 goalkeeper but there should be another quality two safe hands to assist him, this is where I think I am one of those two other goalkeepers. I have done it before and can still do it in the Super Eagles.
“I am confident as I keep on improving better and better in each game I play” he said. ###
