Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Orashi region of Rivers State have vowed to fight and reject every attempt to foist the Minister of State for Education, Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike on the people of the area as the preferred governorship candidate.
During a press conference held in Port Harcourt at the weekend, the representatives of the PDP stakeholders in Orashi region, Barr. Nngeri Goodhead Goodleaf and Alh. Yusuf Emelis said the four local government areas which make up the area represents and speaks for other stakeholders of the party.
“As stakeholders of the PDP in Orashi, we have been left feeling dejected, deceived and short-changed by those who have foisted themselves upon our people as rulers, deciding who belongs and who does not. All is not well in Orashi. Our people feel deep pain,” they said.
They had earlier called for an immediate sack of the chairman of the Rivers State wing of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Felix Obuah, saying that he is a disgrace to the people of Orashi.
The Orashi PDP stakeholders called for unity and integration of the party, and thrown their weight behind President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s second term in office.
The stakeholders declared that the Orashi believes in equity, justice and fairplay, adding it is the turn of the Rivers South-East Senatorial District to produce the next governor of the state come 2015.
They blasted Hon. Evangelist Hope Ikiriko over what the stakeholders called “insincerity and non-challant attitude towards the development of Orashi region.
According to them, having spent twelve (12) years in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Ikiriko did not initiate any programme that impacted positively on the lives of the people of his constituency.
They alleged that Hon. Ikiriko turned himself to a glorified houseboy by using a newspaper to fan Chief Nyesom Wike for hours at a meeting in Ahoada-East.
What do you except such a man to do? They asked rheritocally. ###
