Please Leave Wike To Contest

WIKE ONYESOMBefore the formation of the Grassroot Development Initiative (GDI), in 2012, the Rivers State “was without form and void”. Despite the huge amount of money accrue to the state from the federation account on monthly basis; the indigenes are living below the poverty level.

There was absence of development and social amenities. The administrative style of Gov. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi was not commendable. Projects that will not proffer any solution to the needs of the masses were on priority list. For illustration the multi-billion naira Monorail Project, the Greater Port Harcourt City Project, the relocation of the state owned University of Science and Technology, and several others.

The Rivers State House of Assembly could not enact better laws that will put smiles on the faces of the Rivers people. At the local government level, most council chairmen operate without approved budgets from the councilors. Also councilors, especially in my local government council (ASALGA) are novice in the local government administration as they have never passed any byelaw until their dissolution. They are like “house boys or house helps” to the council chairman.

Ministries and government parastatals are not functioning; civil servants tend to abandon their duty posts during official hours for private businesses. This negatively affect the administrative policies of the state.

The coming of GDI restructured every phase of our life, as it goes round the twenty-three (23) local government areas to preach good governance, justice, fair play and equity.

The Grand Patron of the group, Chief (Barr.) Hon. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike is a grassroots mobilizer, an agent of positive change and a crusader for good governance.

The Minister of State for Education is a man of integrity. Without him, Rivers State will continue to groan under serious economic pains.

This is a state where the three (3) organs of government have collapsed. If not Chief Wike and other notable politicians; nobody could imagined what would have become of the state.

Wike is the “Messiah” of our time to salvage Rivers people from untimely death. Here is a man whom every true Rivers son or daughter is to honour, because of his braveness to save the state from disgrace. I will beg those who are criticizing Wike to please leave him alone because he is doing good job for the Rivers people.

No doubt for now, he is the only credible politician that has the capability, strength or the morale to take PDP to victory in 2015. Wike is not the problem, but solution to our sufferings. He should be allowed to contest the forthcoming governorship primaries in the state. Nobody should disfranchise Wike, afterall he is of age and also possess the minimum education qualification to contest. Wike should be allowed to go to primary election with other qualified aspirants to test their popularity. ###
