The Assistant Pastor in charge of Redeemed Christians Ministry of God, Rivers province 3, Pastor Chukwugoziam Onianwah has countered the claim made by some soccer pundits that good Christians could not make good footballers, saying that Christians make the best disciplined players all over the world, citing kaka of Brazil as one of the good example to buttress his claim.
Pastor Onianwah made this clearance after featuring in X-professional side against Rivers State coaches side in a novelty football match to honour one of Nigeria’s greatest footballers Albert Onyeanwuna in the 60s in the senior national team, the Green Eagles, at Sharks Stadium over the weekend.
The amiable man of God also said only footballers who had played to represent the country are qualified and fit to run football in the Nigeria Football House, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), reasons being that they have seen it all both in the filed and administratively, so, can cope and manage football judiciously as the regour of managing football affairs is best known to them.
He caution those who wants to get involved in the running of football in the NFF to have a rethink and allow the footballers who had represented the country internationally rather than going there because of the money they would want to enrich themselves.
According to him, till Nigeria involves God in the day to day running of the country’s football, corruption and insincerity will continue to thrive. ###
