Asalga CTC Boss Rejected …RSHA Speaker, Ex-Council Chairman At War

SPEAKERThe battle lines are been drawn between the embattled speaker of the highly fractionalized Rivers State House of Assembly (RSHA), Rt. Hon. Otelemaba Dan Amachree and the former chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area, Mr. Ojukaye Flag Amachree over who controls the leadership of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area.

The ex-council boss is giving tough time to the “controversial speaker” of the RSHA as who takes charge of the APC in Asalga.

The composition of the officers at the LGA and ward levels of the opposition APC has caused a big problem between the two chieftains of the party.

Our findings show that the ex-council chairman is more popular than the speaker of the factional Rivers State House of Assembly in the LGA. Mr. Flag Amachree commands more fellowership than the embattle speaker who just control handful of fellowers.

As the crisis between the “RSHA Speaker” and the immediate past chairman of Asalga lingers, some members of the APC in the area have condemned the appointment of Mr. Alwell Daokorite George as the chairman of the newly appointed Caretaker Committee in Asalga.

The new chairman of the CTC is a nominee of the “RSHA speaker”. He is also an in-law to the “Speaker”.

Members of the Asalga APC who spoke to our political correspondent said that they would not expect any positive change in the area with the coming of Mr. Daokorite George as the CTC chairman of the LGA.

According to one of the APC members who simply identified himself as Comrade Songo Dappa, the new CTC chairman cannot pilot the affairs of the APC in the area. He alleged that Mr. Daokortite George is not politically strong to forge the party ahead. ###
