Isiokpo: Journalist’s Brother Butchered

It was a shocking and sad moment for the family of a Port Harcourt based journalist, Emeka Jilly Ejiowhor as his younger brother; Mr. Loveday Wobunezi Ejiowhor was butchered by hoodlums at Isiokpo, headquarters of Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

According to a reliable source Mr. Wobunnezi Ejiowhor, Wobu as he is popularly called by his friends, a commercial motorcycle operator wake up healthy early as 6:30am to start his normal business on Tuesday 9th September, 2014 was approached by two passengers to convey them to Isiokpo/Omagwa junction.

Mr. Wobu who could not hesitate to their demand conveyed them to the junction as he discharged the two passengers at the junction, another two passengers approached him to carry them to Isiokpo round about, for work who could not resist their demand to drop them at the roundabout as he thought they were genuine persons, dropped them at the roundabout but the passengers requested that he should carry them to a track road leading to farm area before they could pay him their transport fare.

Mr. Wobu doubted the journey and later accepted when they closed to the farm area where nobody could see them the two passengers asked him to drop them and demanded for the key of the motorcycle but Wobu resisted to give them the key, the passengers bounced on him and butchered him with matchets, but Wobu continues to struggle with them and shouted, they abandoned him and fled.

Wobu was unconscious and a man rescued and carried him with the motorcycle to the hospital, Pamas Hospital” at Isiokpo where he is currently receiving treatment.

Mrs. Roseline Ejiowhor, the mother of Mr. Wobu Ejiowhor, the victim who expressed sadness over the incident appealed to the police to investigate the incident and arrest the hoodlums.

She further appealed to the local and state governments to come to their aid. ###
