The Rivers State Youths on Monday staged a peaceful protest to the Government House over what they called “Politically Motivated Skills Acquisition Forms”.
The youths numbering over two hundred (200) from the 23 Local Government Areas stormed the Government House on the refusal of government to release the skills Acquisition forms in the Ministry of Youths Development, as earlier announced by the ministry.
The Newswriter checks gathered that the Ministry has over the week made public announcement calling on the Rivers youths to obtain skills acquisition forms in the Ministry of Youth Development.
The youths on hearing the announcement visited the ministry but only to discover that the forms had been given to selected 20 persons in each of the LGAs, and all the 460 persons who had picked the forms so far are APC’s loyalists.
Some youths from Okrika, Emohua, Ikwerre, Akuku-Toru, among others, said they visited the Ministry, but were not given details the release of the said forms, alleging that 460 forms had already been distributed to APC’s loyalists in the 23 LGAs that “the so called skills acquisition forms have political undertone”.
Meanwhile as at press time efforts to speak with the Commissioner for Youths, Sir. Owene Nwanodi proved abortive. ##
