A member of the peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Sunny Okocha said Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi must answer on the failure of the monorail embarked by his administration in the state.
Mr. Okocha dropped the hint in an interview with journalists in Port Harcourt.
He said a monorail that starts from Lagos bus stop and ends at UTC junction has no justification because those that may use the monorail or any reason will end up at UTC junction and will pay another money before reaching the popular Mile 1 Motor Park.
Explaining further, Mr. Okocha said the billions of naira wasted on monorail would have been channelled to other construction of roads, bridges that will link the state together.
“The governor will answer on the monorail when the time comes”, he said.
He said the governor has succeeded in deceiving Rivers people due to the failure of some of the projects including the monorail.
“He has failed the state and our treasury has been looted” Okocha stated.
On youths empowerment, he maintained that the youths have not benefited much since there are lots of unemployed youths, however there are some scholarship scheme by the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) which are selective in nature.
He said the second tenure of Rt. Hon. Amaechi has been unproductive because the governor has done nothing tangible at the tenure in question.
Commenting on the presence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Mr. Okocha described APC as a party without structure noting that they were all members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the past, saying PDP is the home of Governor Amaechi.
He said the first tenure was better than what we are seeing at the second tenure. Mr. Okocha commended President Goodluck Jonathan for his Transformation Agenda especially in areas of transportation, railway, road construction, airport renovations and the provision of micro finance for the small business owners in Nigeria among others.
He explained that the TAN rally was an indication of the support of the South-South people to the Jonathan administration, hoping that in no distant time the President will answer the call of the over 4 million signatures of the South-South region.
Okocha called on the Minister of State for Education, Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike to answer the call of Rivers people by coming out and declare for the position of Governor of Rivers State come 2015 general election. ###
