Chief Barr. Dumo O.B. Lulu Briggs has been told to jettison his gubernatorial ambition for the interest of the Ijaw nation.
This was made known to journalists on Monday by a socio-political group which called itself “Rivers Ijaws Development Assembly”, (RIDA).
Speaking at a press briefing in Port Harcourt the group which spoke through its national coordinator, Hon. Gabriel Jonah declared that the Riverine Ijaws will not support the ambition of Chief Lulu Briggs in his dream to become the next Governor of Rivers State.
Hon. Jonah recalled that in 2003, the entire Ijaws in Rivers State thrown their weights behind the candidature of Chief Lulu-Briggs as a gubernatorial flagbearer on the platform of the defunct National Democratic Party (NDP), but suddenly he disappointed the whole Ijaw clan and sunk his ambition “for reasons best known to him”.
“Chief Barr. Dumo Lulu-Briggs, please sink your ambition. We do not need any disappointment at the end of the day”, Hon. Jonah said.
The RIDA’s spokesman had earlier said, “we do not understand why this our Ijaw brother has come out again to contest, let him forget the 2015, because no serious minded Ijaw person will vote for him”.
According to him, RIDA would continue to oppose the ambition of Lulu-Briggs, since he has failed the people of the Ijaws in 2003. ###
