The weeklong meet the people tour of the eleven( 11 ) Wards of Andoni Local Government Area embarked upon by the Elder (Hon.) Sampson Gilbert Egop led Caretaker Committee administration has been Concluded with a fivefold messages to the people of Andoni, on the need to actively and responsibly participate in the upcoming INEC continuous Voters registration exercise, the importance of peaceful co-existence amongst Neighbours and communities, Council’s further empowerment programme of 330 indigenes, having an interactive session with the people and appreciation for their mass turn out to accord the governor’s Wife Dame Judith Amaechi arousing welcome during her Visit on 11th August, 2014.
The Chairman Caretaker Committee, Elder (Hon) Sampson Gilbert Egop had during the tour while appreciating the people of the respective wards remarked that without the people such event would have been a wasted effort and appeal for similar response in any subsequent occasion.
On the upcoming continuous voters registration exercise, the Care -taker Chairman advised the people against being partisan during the exercise rather participate for the interest of Andoni, acknowledging that proper and sincere participation would earn the Andoni people their heart desires of additional wards and Local Government, calling on all within voting age to avail themselves the opportunity to move Andoni forward.
Speaking against the division and hatred in the traditional institution, inter and intra Communal crisis, cultism and other forms of criminalities, Elder Egop pleaded with the people to eschew violence and allow peace to reign supreme, noting that there is no situation without dialogue as no development can thrive in the face of rancor and civil disturbances.
The Council boss, who advocates support for Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and the All Progressives Congress, APC, throughout the eleven (11) wards, clarified that APC was the parent of the Council, hence their support and entourage during the tour.
The APC used the occasion of the Council’s tour to commission 11 wards Party Secretariats acquired by the Elder Egop led administration in Andoni.
In the eleven (11) Wards, the APC symbol (the Broom) was handed to the Chiefs, Elders and Representatives of the people on courtesy call. At Egbormung town headquarters of Ward 7, it was handed to the representative of the paramount ruler, Mr. Ernest Gogo, while HRH king Israel Uzamaden Otuo(ix) received the symbol for Ward 6. In Ward 5 the symbol was presented to HRM King A.M.Aaron Ikuru, recognized traditional ruler and paramount ruler of Ikuru town, as Chairman Agwut-Obolo Council of Chiefs, Chief Williams Ucheowaji Ayauwu received the symbol for Ward 3 on behalf of the Chiefs.
In all the wards visited, their various leaders have pledged their support and readiness to work for the success of APC in Andoni, while they also called on the party to acknowledge the importance of human beings who constitutes the Party and the need to empower them properly against former practices where the people were over looked and treated without respect.
However, the tour enhances the indigenes the opportunity of interacting with the CTC members, stating their problems as well as acquainting themselves with the policies and programmes of government. Those on the Caretaker Chairman’s entourage were members of the Committee, Chief (Hon) Lucky Ayauwu, Hon. Ere Victor, Mr. John Nte Geoffery, Mrs. Zilpa Innocent Eneotu, Mr. Imie Benson and Awajinimam Jacobs.
The tour which kick started on Monday 25th August,2014 with visit to the two wards of Ataba Community came to an end with a tour to Ngo Town headquarters of Ward 1 on Monday 1st September, 2014.
