As the two Port Harcourt sides, Dolphins and Sharks seek to better their lot in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) both sides waited to consolidate their chance with this particular game, which to both managers, Coach Eguma and Ogunbote turned out to be their disappointment, owing to the draw the game records for them.
For Dolphins, they are much more better off as they can advance with other games to make their push to climb the league top position.
For Sharks, they needed a win to start climbing ontop the top of the league. Sharks were ontop of the league, at the first stanza leaving behind Dolphins at the middle of the log. Dolphins is currently occupying the 2nd place on the log table before Sharks match.
Both side played their best with the aim of securing the maximum 3 points. Sharks played her game in the first half while Dolphins contained Sharks within the first 45th minutes only to fire up her game in the second half. Dolphins had 4 shots at goal. Dolphins were almost on the score sheet if not the vigilante defender of Sharks that kicked out the goal bound ball.
The high tension soaked match was full of collision which speaks of the desperate desire of both teams of the Rivers State government sponsored football outfits campaigning in the league. Both sides made their changes to no avail.
Officiating was fair and encouraging as of that particular encounter in the Nigeria Professional football league standard.
Speaking to sports journalists shortly after the encounter, coach Stanley Eguma regretted not having the 3 maximum points.
His counterpart, Coach Gbenga Ogunbote also lamented not securing the 3 maximum points.
According to him, he thanked God, but he would have been happier if he garnered the 3 maximum points, saying he is like Oliver Twist, always asking for more due to the 11th position Sharks is occupying in the league log.
Coach Gbenga Ogunbote had earlier revealed to The Newswriter sports that Sharks problem is psychological and he believes the team will bounce back to reckoning soonest.
Meanwhile, coach Ere Dokubo has made his intention to resign his appointment as Chief Coach of Sharks. ###
