Manipulations, and irregularities have rocked the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board, RSUBEB in its staff’s promotion exercise. Information reaching our newsdesk had it that it is very difficult to be promoted in the Board irrespective of your years of service.
According to the source for a staff to be qualified for promotion he or she must part with cash. Our source informed this weekly that female staff are highly favoured in the promotion exercise than their male counterparts. The source went further to alleged that female staff offered their bodies as “PR” before being promoted, adding that those who fail to do so might be marginalized in the exercise.
A male member of the staff hinted our correspondent that the conduct of promotion exercise is lopsided, alleging that two things: “sex and money” are always before staff that are seeking or due for promotion.
According to him, some staff who are due for promotion will suddenly complaint of missing files, if there is no exchange of money or “body contact”. “Personal official files get missing anyhow in the Board,” he alleged.
Some male staff who have been frustrated due to lack of money to “dash out” before being interviewed and promoted are now calling the State Government and the relevant authorities to intervene and correct the anomalies in the Board.
All efforts to contact the Executive Chairman of the Board, Sir. Alli Orutemeka for comments proved abortive. ###
