The Rivers State government has set up two isolation centres to take care of the Ebola virus disease.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting penultimate week, the Permanent Secretary of the State Free Medical Programme, Dr. Nnesochi Offor revealed to journalists that everybody to be alert, the state government has set up two centres to tackle the scourge, namely University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) and General Hospital, Elele.
According to her, the measure is taken to ensure that Ebole virus is prevented from the Rivers State.
On the part of Dr. Nnana Nyekwere, the Rivers State Director Public Health Enlightenment, disclosed that the state government has shown concern for the rural areas hence enlightenment programme has been put in place to sensitize the people, noting that transporters, medical workers and mortuary attendants are some of the personnel who are easily expose to the deadly scourge.
He also revealed that four ambulances have been made available in a case of the outbreak of the disease, stating that there is no known cure for Ebola virus. ###
