Rotary Club PH Promises Better Deal For Rural Dwellers

ENI FRANKThe newly inducted President of Rotary Club, Port Harcourt, RI District 9140, Rtn. Frank Egwu Eni has promised to move the humanitarian service from the city of Rivers State to the hinterland.

Eni was inducted as the Golden Jubilee President of the Club alongside Club Officers and Directors at a Fund Raising for Service Project for 2014-2015 Rotary year held at Francis Murray Bruce Hall, Rotary Centre, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

In his address, Mr. Eni called on politicians to emulate the exemplary features of Rotary where for 1009 years Rotary leadership has been changing every year, without rancor and free in transition.

The new president whose tenure began on the 1st of July, 2014 will become the Jubilee President of Rotary Club Port Harcourt come January 22nd, 2015 when Rotary Club International will be celebrating their 50 years of existence as a humanization organization.

Mr. Eni who used the medium of his induction lauded the immediate past president of Rotary Club PH, Rtn Chidi Ikeji for sterling the affairs of the club excellently in the 2013/2014 Rotary year and also commended the Induction Planning Committee under the leadership of the Vice President of Rotary Club, PH. Rtn. Dan Harrison for a successful ceremony.

The golden Jubilee president while describing Rotary as an organization for “helping others” spoke on the 2014/2015 Rotary theme: “The Light Up Right Rotary”, and enumerated on service projects which include: Promoting peace, Fighting diseases, Providing clean water, Saving mothers and children, supporting education, Growing local economies and the Rotary Centre as some of the projects that his administration will embark on in his one year tenure, which will come to an end on the 30th of June, 2015.

Earlier in an interaction, Rtn. Eni has said that the uniqueness of his administrations will hinge on moving from the city to the hinter land, providing model hospitals and water among others as they have done in Oyibo, Elekahia and other communities.

Eni in the meantime, prayed to leave a legacy that will stand the test of time just like the statue the Rotary club erected at Aba Road/Elelenwo junction, in Obio/Akpor LGA of the state, since 25 years ago.

In the same vein, the Public Relations Officer of Rotary Club of Port Harcourt, Rtn. Uchenna Ogbodo affirmed that Rtn. Eni will use his wealth of knowledge in the business of Rotary to better the lot of the less privileged and move the club to the next level.

The event also featured the presentation of Honorary Rotarian Awards to Chief Captain Sunday Nwankwo, Captain Elechi Amadi, Chief Enwo Nachi-Gariwey, President, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Rear Admiral F.B.I. Probeni.

Others include: High Chief and Mrs. Benson Lulu-Briggs, Chief Dr. Anthony Ugochukwu Eze and Amb. Nne Furo Kurubo

While the Award of Community Service went to Dr. George (Jnr.) Ndubuisi, Mr. Chinedu Okonkwo and Chief Dr. Haroun Ogbonnia.

The duo of Dr. Eluu Vincent Ogbonnia and Pastor Paulinus Nsirim were also honoured as Donors to the Rotary Foundation, Paul Harris Fellows. ###
