The Asari-Toru Local Government Area (ASALGA) Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has concluded its three (3) days Sensitization Programme, Tagged “Operation Conquer Asalga”
The event which commenced on Wednesday 23 August through Friday 25th August, 2014 was attended by Party Faithful, Stalwarts, Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Students union activists, Politicians, Community Leaders and Several others.
The Sensitization Programme was championed and led by the Leader of the party in the LGA and the Vice Chairman PDP Rivers West Senatorial District, Chief Odiari C. Princewill.
The event started on Wednesday 23′ August, 2014 with a Crucial meeting with the LGA and the Ward Officers of the Grassroot Development Initiative (GDI) at its Secretariat, Chief Wokoma Compound, Buguma. Speaking at the event, Chief Odiari C. Princewill who is also the member Board of Trustees (BOT), of GDI Charged the Officers of the Organization to stand firm and support PDP, saying that there is no any other Political Party in Asari-Toru Local Government AIea. Chief Od Ian C Princewill who told the Officers of GDI that they have a major role to play in mobilizing Grassroots Support for the party ahead of the next year’s election, predicted electoral victory for PDP at all levels in 2015 general election.
He further charged them to throw their weights behind the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to actualize his second term ambition come 2015. Also speaking, the Chairman of Asalga PDP, Evangelist Jerry Thomp Amachree advised them to remain focused and give their support to President Goodluck Jonathan and Chief Barr. Ezebunwo Wike in 2015. In his speech Hon Engr. Nimingo Barango, the Secretary Asalga GDI commended Chief Barr. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike for what he has done to liberate the state from slavery. He described Chief Barr. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike as the “Political Saviour” of Rivers State, adding that he deserves the mandate of the people in 2015.
In his speech, the Assistant National Secretary of GDI, Comrade Damiete West applauded the leadership style of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike. Comrade Damiete West expressed optimism that if Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike is given the mandate to serve, he would improve the living standard of the people of the state.
Shortly after the meeting with the Principal Officers of GDI, the leader of the Party also had an interactive session with the youths of the area at King Amachree Square, Buguma. Addressing the cross section of the Youths, Chief Odiari C. Princewill declared that with the present Political equation and arrangement, it will be very difficult for anybody who is not prepared to become a Governor in 2015. He said that the governorship position is not a tribal thing, but for a someone who can deliver the Party. The PDP Vice Chairman Rivers West Senatorial District told the Youths to back and support President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and the leadership of Chief Barr. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike in 2015.
Speaking on behalf of the Youths, Comrade Wright Warmate said that they have collectively agreed to work for the electoral victory of PDP in Asalga and had endorsed President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike in 2015, taking into cognizance of their developmental strides. On Thursday, 24th August, 2014, Chief Odiari C. Princewill met with the Chiefs of Asari-Toru Local Government Area at Chief Bessy Gate, Wokoma compound, Buguma. No fewer than eighty (80) Chiefs were in attendance. Speaking during the meeting, Chief Odiari C. Princewill pleaded with the Chiefs to support the ruling Party. He also enjoined them to give their support to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in 2015, saying that the President had done much for the Citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He further urged them to support the leadership of Chief Barr. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike.
Chief Pakiribibi Walter George and Chief A. M. S. Ekwe in their separate responses, the Chiefs declared to support the ruling PDP, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and Chief Barr. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike in 2015.
The Chiefs described Chief Barr. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike as the “Son of the Soil”, adding that as a. Son-in-law if he is contesting they have no option than to support him.
According to the Chiefs governorship election requires proper preparation, stating that Chief Barr. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike has done much in terms of the efforts he has put in the Party and the State, hence he deserves support from the people.
Chief Odiari C. Princewill had earlier commended the security agencies in the area for maintaining law and order throughout the period of the sensitization exercise.
On Friday August 25, 2014, the last day of the sensitization, a PDP stakeholders’ meeting was held at the Brokyin Hotel, Chief Prince Dateme. Compound, Buguma. More than four hundred (400) persons attended the stakeholders’ meeting including Chiefs and Community Leaders.
Speaking Chief Odiari C. Princewill urged the members not to be deceived by Political Party or group of persons. He said with strong belief that PDP must win in 2015 and APC must fail.
Chief Odiari C. Princewill who galvanized support for the ruling Party, extolled the leadership qualities of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and Chief Barr. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike, He described them as Messiahs’ adding that they deserve the mandate of the masses in 2015.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Asalga PDP stakeholders, Hon.
Opakirite Jackreece stated categorically that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will fail in 2015 Election. Hon Opakirite Jackreecë who was a former Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Council, called on every member of the party to support President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and Chief Barr. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike in 2015.
According to, him, Chief Barr. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike has done much for the PDP, therefore deserve the governorship position in the State. He thanked the members for attendance and assured them that PDP will sweep the polls in 2015.
Hon. Adokiye Horsfall, a Party faithful who spoke during the meeting gave kudos to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and Chief Barr. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike.
Hon. Adokiye Horsfall who was the former Deputy Mayor of Phalga, however ruled out the possibility of emergence of a Kalabari Governor in 2015. Mr. Elekima Ekine one of the founding fathers of Kalika Assembly also confirmed what Hon. Adokiye Horsfall said.
The highlights of the sensitization exercise include: Street Procession and the meeting of the Asalga PDP Elders’ Forum. ###
