The Ogoni Supreme Youth Council under the aegis of Centre,\Ogoni Restoration Project has appealed President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to appoint Ogoni son as Special Adviser to the President on Presidential Implementation Committee on Ogoniland Environmental Restoration Authority and also called on the four Local Government Council Caretaker Committee chairmen in Ogoniland namely; Eleme, Tai, Gokana and Khana to appoint a Special Adviser on Ogoniland Environmental Restoration Project.
The President/CEO of Centre of Ogoni Restoration Project Surveillance (CORPS), Mr. Baridilo C. Mao1appealto the Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Rotimi Amaechi to establish the Rivers Ogoniland Environmental Restoration Agency which will saddle with the responsibility to coordinate and to engage the Ogoni Communities for a framework and indigenous contractor cluster group to form the Ogoniland Oil and Gas Services Cooperative base on the reality on ground to address poverty and hunger, this he said will also create more jobfor the unemployed and the self-employed.
The Rivers Ogoniland Environmental Restoration Agency is an initiative that aimed at addressing the psychology satisfaction and building a hope to further address the environmental degradation and continue engaging the Ogoni people in several workshops, seminars, conferences and MiniOgoni Congress on 30 years cleanup project.
The Rivers Ogoniland Environmental Restoration Agency in collaboration with Centre for Ogoni Restoration Project Surveillance (CORPS) will form the Ogoni Community Policing Surveillance programme which will assist the oil companies in securing safeguard, and protect the Trans Niger Pipeline in Ogoniland and also engaging a special monitoring surveillance intelligent with special patrol vehicle which will include security agency and unarmed youths and also engage a special kingdom coordinating unit. Source of fund, the Multinational companies like shell must be ready to fund the agency described as Ogoni Restoration levies, the landlord tenement fees, Ogoni Empowerment Support Fund etc for the purpose of providing community social amenities and infrastructural services like good drinking water, micro-credit programme, mobile medical outreach, community based health insurance scheme, health centres, public toilet etc. You will agree with me that the Ogoni community, K-Dere the oil-rich community in Ogoniland, Niger Delta. K-Dere has over 95 oil wells out of 95 oil well, manifold, a giant flow stations with the population of over 200,000 men and women, youth and children, shell has been in operation in Ogoni over 45 years ago but nothing to show for.
The K-Dere Community is not recognized by the State Government and the Local Government in time of infrastructures, majorities of the K-Dere people are homeless, their houses were destroyed and the aquatic life because of the environmental degradation caused by shell. The K-dere peoplef occupation is fishing and farming and have no livelihood, no source of income. We are calling on Mr. President and the Governor of Rivers State to come to the aid of the K-Dere people Mao pleaded.
