A drilling engineer and former commissioner representing Rivers State on the board of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Engr. Emmanuel Tubotamuno Georgewill has pledged a calm and positive leadership for Rivers people if he is given the mandate to lead the people, come 2015.
He made his intentions known to newsmen in Port Harcourt, Sunday, while feting friends, politicians and well wishers at the Chinese Restaurant with a cocktail bash. The event attracted eminent personalities who came in their good numbers to identify with the amiable engineer.
Ceorgewill told his guests that a new dawn, new order and new hope are his key principle, adding that his political proposal is a divine surprise to everybody, as he also said he would institute a new vision and goal for the people of Rivers State.
He described Port Harcourt as a unique city, pointing out that the beauty of the city has lost its steam and promised to return the Garden City to its original status.
“Port Harcourt City is a world book capital with natural peninsula. It is the oil and gas capital of the Gulf of Guinea, stretching from Senegal to Equatorial Guinea and yet it is impoverished and lacks what it takes in terms of infrastructure and human capital development”, he said.
He said the challenges being faced by Rivers people lies in their hands, stressing that Rivers people must make a bold change and hold on to the rare opportunity before them. He called on all hands to be on deck to institute core family values, respect and honesty, saying that Rivers people must explain why they have failed amidst the abundant blessings surrounding them.
“I believe firmly that with the right leadership, we can restore hope, build family values and uplift our people” he assured. Quoting from the Bible in the book of Jeremiah 29:11 which says: “For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end”. These words according to the first professional drilling engineer in Nigeria is his guiding principle. He gave two reasons why people go into leadership; lesson and blessing as reasons why God anoints leaders, saying that he will he a blessing to Rivers people in 2015.
Greg Obriafo, Kio-Lawson, Daere Ogan and many others were among eminent
persons that poured encomiums on the governorship hopeful, saying that a new horizon has set in with the emergence of the engineer whose brilliance will certainly uplift Rivers State.
David Allagoa, Corporate Affairs Manager of Intel Services, Onne described Georgewill as a detribalized gentleman who has attained success, especially in the drilling field and wished him well in the task of gunning for the governorship of Rivers State.
The event witnessed dignitaries from all walks of life as sumptuous meals and drinks were served guests at the cocktail party. ###
